THAT GOOD OLE DRAVECKY DRIVE

BOARDMAN OH- It has been well reported during YSN’s coverage of Boardman softball over the years that Maddie Dravecky is one of the biggest sources of energy that the team has. Now that Maddie is in her senior season with the Spartans she has taken that energy dial and cranked it all the way up to ten. There is no more time to take anything for granted. Dravecky knows that, and is now louder than ever.  Those positive vibes are so important to a team. But especially for Boardman, who plays one of the hardest schedules in the YSN area.  There are going to peaks and valleys when you’re constantly testing yourself, and Maddie is one of the big reasons why everyone stays up.  She has also stepped into a much larger leadership role this season, bringing more than her vocals to the team.  Dravecky spreads that positivity to her teammates and is always there when a player needs lifted up.  You’ll never see the Spartans down on themselves, and that makes them dangerous every time you go up against them.

Dravecky has also made the most of more playing time with the Spartans.  She is now consistently patrolling center field in the Spartans no fly zone.  She’s got the speed to run down balls, and the arm to get them back in quickly.  After a tough start to season at the plate, Dravecky has shown what a positive mindset can do.  She has climbed herself out of an early slump and is climbing up the team’s leaderboard in batting average.  She has scored 6 runs this year, and is second on the team in stolen bases with 4.

Maddie took the time to sit with YSN’s Anthony Hartwig and talk about her career at Boardman. They discuss how she’s able to stay positive, stepping into leadership after the graduation of so many seniors, and so much more. Check out the latest Boardman Softball Player Profile only on YSN!
