THE CIRCLE IS CALLOWED GROUND

MCDONALD OH- We have been blessed with an abundance of softball talent in the YSN coverage area. The talent is especially widespread in the pitcher’s circle. Bri Callow of McDonald high school is one of the most exciting arms this area has to offer. Despite losing a whole season with the pandemic, Callow has started this season as if she had been pitching high school ball for months before. To be fair, her travel ball experience and weekly visits with pitching instructors has helped keep her sharp. She has already dazzled the softball audience this season with 2 perfect games. To make that stat even more eye popping, both of her perfect games came in the same week. Bri says that she doesn’t even know that the game is perfect in the moment. She is locked in and focused on each pitch, and making sure she is doing everything she can to help her team win. She personifies the team player character type. A great example is her approach to hitting. She admits she does not enjoy hitting, but she knows her team needs her in the lineup, so she focuses on what she needs to do in the box, and executing the best to her ability. You’ll never see her take a pitch off whether she is in the circle, or in the box. Bri will be playing at the next level in the future. She has signed to play with John Carrol.

So far this season Callow is 6-1 in the circle. She has accumulated an ERA of 0.99 in 42.1 IP. If you don’t want to do the math that is only 6 earned runs surrendered so far on the season. Callow has struck out 98 hitters while only walking 3. At the plate, Callow has hit .285 so far with 2 RBI.

Bri was kind enough to sit down with YSN’s Anthony Hartwig to talk about her senior season, and her career at McDonald. They discuss her mentality during a perfect game, who she looked up to as a kid, and much more. If you are a fan of pitching, you can’t not be a fan of Bri Callow. Hear from one of the most exciting arms in the area in this exclusive McDonald softball player profile “The Circle is Callowed Ground.”
