THE FALLS STANDS TALL

NEWTON FALLS, OHIO- The Newton Falls Tigers got out to an eight-run lead in the fifth inning and held on for a 10-8 victory over the Mineral Ridge Rams on Monday.

The Rams scored five runs in the failed comeback on a error, a single by AJ Sandy, a error, and a home run by Jackson Geddes. Geddes and Gino Novello all managed multiple hits as Geddes went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Rams in hits.

The Tigers pulled away for good with five runs in the third inning as Cameron Huff singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, Trevor Ruscoe singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run, an error scored one run, Carter Rapczak singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run, and Ethan Powell grounded out, scoring one run.

Xavier Klamer took the loss for the Rams as he allowed ten hits and eight runs over three and a third innings, striking out four.

Newton Falls will now take on Labrae in round two of the Division III statewide tournament.
