THE MYER WAY OR THE HIGHWAY

COLUMBIANA, OH – In a her latest interview on YSN’s Running Point, senior standout Myer Miller shared her experiences leading the Crestview Rebels girls basketball team, reflecting on her final high school season’s highs and bittersweet moments.

“Myer Miller has transitioned seamlessly into her new role as team captain,” host Anthony Hartwig said. “Selected by Coach Blatch for her resilience and work ethic, Myer has embraced the challenge of being more vocal and fostering team spirit, a significant shift from her junior year.” Growing up on a family farm, Myer’s roots in hard work and dedication were evident. “You learn a lot of life lessons while living on a farm,” she explained. “Work ethic, hard work – you have to get up and do stuff even when you don’t want to. It’s shaped who I am today.”

As for basketball, the senior has taken immense pride in her defensive prowess, especially at the top of the Rebels’ press. “If I’m not performing on the offensive side, I can control how I play defense,” she shared. “It’s rewarding to get tips and deflections and to just be in control.” Myer also credited her film study habits for her growth as a player. She often reviews game tapes with her father, accepting critiques to better herself. This diligence, paired with her reduced academic load during her senior year, allows her to focus deeply on basketball.

Looking ahead, Myer plans to stay close to home, deciding between Youngstown State University and Kent State University to pursue a career in early childhood education. “I come from a family of teachers,” she noted, inspired by the positive impact educators in her life have made on her. Family traditions play a significant role in Myer’s life, symbolized by the number 32 worn by her father, brothers, and now her. This strong familial bond and support drive her to excel on and off the court. As her tenure at Crestview nears its end, Myer remains a beacon of hard work, humility, and dedication. “We have a really tight, close-knit community,” she said. “Everyone supports everyone, and it’s been great to wear the Rebels’ colors.”
