THE PERRY PACE IS HARD TO KEEP UP WITH

PERRY OH— It didn’t take long for Perry to put this one to bed. The Pirates dropped a 12-spot in the first inning and never looked back, rolling to a 20-2 beatdown of Lakeside on Monday.

Elise Strahan was a nightmare for Lakeside pitching, going 3-for-3 with two doubles and a single. She drove in runs early and often, helping kickstart Perry’s massive first inning that included a parade of RBI hits from just about everyone in the lineup.

Rosalyn Tharp doubled in two, Morgan Winters knocked in another with a double, and Emma Brainard and Madelyn Rupert each added RBI singles. Arianna Rogers smoked a two-run double of her own, and by the time Winters lifted a sac fly, it was 12-0—and the Pirates were just getting warmed up.

Perry kept tacking on, plating another run in the second and six more in the third thanks to another string of extra-base hits from Rupert, Infalvi, Strahan, Rogers, and Hailey Hodge.

Winters came in to lock it down on the mound, tossing three no-hit innings and striking out nine without issuing a walk. Rupert got the start and handled the first two frames, allowing just two unearned runs on a couple hits.

The Pirates finished the night with 18 hits. Strahan and Rogers both had three-hit games, while Brainard, Tharp, Winters, and Rupert all had multi-hit nights. Perry also swiped four bags for good measure.

Lakeside’s bright spot came from Violet Hall, who knocked in both runs and collected one of the team’s two hits. Next up, Perry heads to Solon on Tuesday, looking to keep the bats hot.
