TIGERS CATCH BIG SWEEP OF CANFIELD

HOWLAND OH- Howland caught fire in the sixth and dropped an eight-run haymaker on Canfield to pull off a 13-6 win on Wednesday.

The Tigers trailed heading into the bottom of the sixth, but then the wheels came off for Canfield. Dominic Santee came up clutch with a two-run single, Keaton Perry doubled in a run, Santino Minniti drew a bases-loaded walk, Luca Fronzaglio knocked in another, and Bode Biggin capped the rally with a two-RBI single. Just like that, Howland flipped the game on its head and ran away with it.

The Tigers first cracked the scoreboard in the second when Biggin took one off the body with the bags loaded. They tacked on four more in the third—Minniti cleaned up with a three-run double and Fronzaglio followed with an RBI knock to make it 5-3.

Canfield punched back. Joey Gabriel, Anthony Groner, and Jake Dovich helped them plate three across the third and fifth to tie things up, and Zain Jadallah gave them a short-lived 6-5 lead with a single in the top of the sixth.

But Biggin came in out of the pen, locked it down, and let the Tigers’ offense go to work. He earned the win, tossing 1.1 scoreless innings with two strikeouts. Sully O’Donnell gave Howland a solid start, going 5.2 innings and giving up just two earned on eight hits.

Minniti led the run production with three RBIs, Fronzaglio set the table with a 3-for-5 day at the top, and Biggin added two hits and a couple more driven in.

Canfield had 10 hits of their own—Dylan Mancini, Ryan Weibling, and Groner all collected two. Gabriel drove in a pair, but it wasn’t enough to hold off the late Tiger surge. Next up, Howland squares off with Columbiana on Thursday. Canfield hits the road on Thursday as they travel to Tallmadge.
