TIGERS COME OUT ON TOP IN EPIC THRILLER

SPRINGFIELD OH- It took an extra 20 minutes of game time to decide a winner in Tuesday night’s marquee matchup between Springfield and Poland. By the end of it, both teams had multiple players foul out, and it came down to pure heart. Springfield eventually won the marathon of a game 79-70.

Springfield held a second half lead. It was seven points at its highest point. Poland slowly but surely chipped away at that lead and eventually tied it. They had a chance to win it in regulation but couldn’t get their shot to fall. Ironically, Poland had the final possession in four of the five overtimes, and just couldn’t put a shot in.

It was Adam Wharry and RJ Smith who finally broke the Tigers out in the fifth overtime both hitting massive threes to give the Tigers the breathing room it took to win.

Smith had a massive night for the Tigers leading with 31 points. Wharry wasn’t too far behind. He finished the night with 23 points.

Poland was led by Ross Dedo with 19 points. He eventually fouled out of the game. Andrew Centofanti was also in double figures with 16 points. Michael Gordon supplied 10 big points off the bench.

Springfield will try to carry the momentum back in to league play as they matchup at Jackson Milton on Friday. Poland also gets back to league play as they host Girard on Friday.
