TIGERS FALL IN CLOSE GAME WITH GARFIELD

It came down to the last play, but Springfield was on the wrong end of a 6-5 defeat to Garfield on Saturday. The game was tied at five with Garfield batting in the bottom of the seventh. Garfield hit a walk off RBI to secure the win.

Springfield lost despite out-hitting Garfield 11 to eight.

Garfield opened up scoring in the first inning, when Shawn Barber singled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs.

Springfield  notched three runs in the third inning. They scored their runs on an RBI double by Aaron Groner.

Kaiden Spade was on the mound for Garfield. The hurler surrendered five runs on 11 hits over seven innings, striking out nine and walking one.

Kolten Ruark was on the pitcher’s mound the Tigers. The pitcher went five innings, allowing four runs on six hits and striking out three. Dylan Sheely threw one and one-third innings out of the bullpen.

Springfield totaled 11 hits. Groner, Ruark, and Mitchell Seymour each managed multiple hits. Groner led with three hits in five at bats.

Garfield had eight hits in the game. Pearce Fedor and Brody Swigonski all had multiple hits.
