TIGERS LOCK DOWN MINERAL RIDGE

MINERAL RIDGE OH- Springfield took home a 4-1 victory over Mineral Ridge on Friday.

Mineral Ridge opened up scoring in the first inning, when an error scored one run.

Springfield evened things up at one in the top of the third inning when AJ Stallsmith singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.

Springfield pulled away for good with one run in the fifth inning. In the fifth Stallsmith doubled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run.

Alex Rothwell was the winning pitcher for the Tigers. The pitcher surrendered one run on three hits over five innings, striking out 11. Stallsmith threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Mark Bunch took the loss for the Rams. The bulldog lasted five innings, allowing four hits and two runs while striking out four.

Stallsmith led Springfield with two hits in three at bats.

Gino Novello went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Mineral Ridge in hits. Mineral Ridge didn’t commit a single error in the field. Kyle Bickerstaff had six chances in the field, the most on the team.
