TIGERS POUNCE ON LISBON EARLY TO SNAP STREAK
NEW MIDDLETOWN, OH- Lisbon watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 10-5 loss to Springfield on Friday. Springfield scored on a double by Chris Thompson in the first inning and a groundout by Brannon Brungard in the second inning. Springfield pulled away for good with two runs in the second inning. In the second Brungard contributed an RBI groundout to keep the Devils at bay.
It was Springfield scoring five runs in the third inning that sealed the deal for the Tigers. The offensive firepower by Springfield was led by Drew Clark, John Slike, Brungard, and AJ Stallsmith, who each had RBIs in the inning.
Clark was the winning pitcher for Springfield. He went three innings, allowing two runs on five hits and striking out three. Noah Barrett, Mitchell Seymour, and Ryan McFadden all put in work in relief out of the bullpen, steering their team towards the victory. Garrett Cox took the loss for Lisbon. He surrendered one run on one hit over one and one-third innings, walking zero. Tyler Graham started the game for The Devils. He lasted three innings, allowing eight hits and nine runs while striking out one
Lisbon did have some offensive pop and socked one home run on the day. Blake Reynolds went deep in the seventh inning. The Blue Devils saw the ball well on the day, racking up eight hits in the game. Reynolds, Logan Bell, and Tyler Toot each had multiple hits for Lisbon. Reynolds led the team with three hits in four at-bats. Springfield totaled ten hits. Stallsmith, Slike, and Thompson each racked up multiple hits for Springfield.
