TIGERS SHOW NO SIGNS OF SLOWING DOWN

NEW MIDDLETOWN, Ohio- Springfield put their undefeated record on the line Thursday night against a Hubbard team that was hungry to capture their first win of the season.

The Tigers came running out of the gates, jumping out to an early 11-0 lead. Alex Rothwell scored 8 of Springfield’s first 11 points. The Eagles weathered the storm after Nicolas Hendrix heated up, and the Eagles trailed 19-7 after one quarter of play.

The Eagles had a tall hill to climb coming out of the half trailing 35-19, but the Tigers shut any hopes of a comeback down realquick. Alex Rothwell had his way down low, dominating the point for the entirety of the quarter. Great ball movement by the Tigers also paved the way for Beau Brungard and Jake Joyce to get in double-figures. With the collective effort, the Tigers outscored Hubbard 28-9 in the third quarter, bringing a 63-28 lead into the fourth quarter.

The last frame was a great opportunity for some of the younger players to get some valuable varsity minutes. Dylan Sheely and Kaesen Kosek ended up getting on the board for the Tigers late. With the running clock in effect, Springfield came out victorious by a score of 69-34.

The Tigers boasted three players in double-figures tonight, with Alex Rothwell scoring 18 points, Beau Brungard scoring 14 points, and Jake Joyce scoring 12 points. Adam Wharry also had a great night defensively for the Tigers.
