TIGERS STARTING TO SHOW THEIR TEETH

SPRINGFIELD, OHIO- Badger lost the lead late in a 16-6 defeat to Springfield in the sectional championship on Thursday.  The game was tied at four with Springfield batting in the bottom of the fourth when Kolten Ruark singled on a 1-2 count, scoring two runs.

The Braves got on the board in the first inning when Jacob Toto’s sac fly scored one run. The Tigers answered quickly and took the lead for good with five runs in the fourth inning when Brayden Butler drew a walk, scoring one run, Vinny Woods singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, and a sacrifice bunt by Parker Dobson scored one run.

Springfield scored seven runs in the sixth inning as the big inning was driven by singles by Seandelle Gardner and Butler, a groundout by Jackson Ensley, and a double by Ruark.

Butler took the win on the mound as the bulldog allowed seven hits and six runs over six innings, striking out four.

Brad Hamilton led the way at the plate for the Braves as he went 3 for 4. Lewis Flowers took the loss on the mound as he allowed three hits and seven runs over three innings, striking out four.

Springfield will now take on Heartland Christian to decide who will go to the Division IV District Championship.
