TIGERS SWIPE AWAY A WIN FROM THE BULLDOGS
HOWLAND OH- Howland got the job done Thursday night, grinding out a 5-2 win over Lakeview in a game that was all about timely hitting and strong work on the bump.
The Tigers jumped on the board early, cashing in on a fielder’s choice and a defensive miscue to plate two in the first. They kept the pressure on in the second, stretching the lead to 4-0 with a clean RBI single.
Rocco Perkins was solid on the hill, tossing six innings of three-hit ball. He gave up two runs—only one earned—and struck out five while working around some traffic. Biggin came in to close it down with a quiet seventh to seal the deal.
At the dish, Biggin and Luca Fronzaglio were tough outs, both picking up a pair of hits hitting back-to-back in the order. Biggin and Richie Ansel each drove in a run, and the Tigers stayed aggressive on the bases with four steals to keep Lakeview on edge.
Lakeview got on the board late, scratching across two with some smart situational hitting, but couldn’t close the gap. Four different players logged hits, and a couple of RBIs helped them chip away, but it wasn’t enough. Howland gets back to work Tuesday when Edgewood comes to town.
