TIGERS TAKE CARE OF BUSINESS AGAINST LOWELLVILLE

Abby Joseph threw a gem on Friday for Springfield allowing zero runs and besting Lowellville by a score of 16-0

Springfield was boosted by Joseph who went 4-for-5 at the plate. Joseph singled in the first, doubled in the fourth, doubled in the sixth, and singled in the sixth.

Springfield got on the board in the first inning when Haleigh McCalla singled on a 2-1 count, scoring two runs.

The Tigers put up ten runs in the sixth inning. The offensive firepower by was led by Madi Lesnak, Gianna Piccuta, Emily Gerthung, Harley Shoemaker, Carlee Bacon, and Joseph, all driving in runs in the inning.

A single by Sophia Alfano in the second inning was a positive for Lowellville.

Joseph led the Tigers to victory in the pitcher’s circle. The hurler went six innings, allowing zero runs on one hit and striking out ten.

Alfano took the loss for Lowellville. The hurler went five and a third innings, allowing 14 runs on nine hits and striking out one.

Springfield collected 13 hits on the day. Joseph, Lesnak, Gerthung, Piccuta, and McCalla each managed multiple hits. Joseph went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead Springfield in hits.

Alfano led Lowellville with one hit in two at bats.
