TIGERS TAKE VICTORY ON THE TURF

Howland nabbed the lead late in the game in a 13-6 victory over Mathews on Thursday. The game was tied at four with the Tigers batting in the bottom of the fifth when Zoe King doubled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run.

Howland earned the victory despite allowing Mathews score four runs in the first inning.

Howland knotted the game up at four in the bottom of the third inning. An error by the Mustangs scored one run.

The Tigers scored six runs in the sixth inning. Their offense in the inning came from home runs by Alyssa Massucci, King, and Kayla Campbell and a double by Alexia Spangler.

Brooke Tatar was credited with the victory for Howland in the circle. The pitcher went seven innings, allowing six runs on six hits, striking out eight and walking zero.

Howland smacked three home runs on the day. King had a dinger in the sixth inning. Massucci went deep in the sixth inning. Campbell went for the long ball in the sixth inning.

The Tigers totaled 13 hits. Massucci, King, Campbell, Spangler, and Sydney VanNess each collected multiple hits. Massucci led Howland Tigers with three hits in four at bats.
