TOO MUCH OFFENSE FROM COLUMBIANA

HANOVERTON OH-  Cameron Perkins had herself a day at the plate, driving in six runs to help power Columbiana past United, 16-6, in a high-scoring showdown on Tuesday.

The Clippers got rolling early with a couple of first-inning knocks, including an RBI single to open the scoring. They kept the line moving from there, tacking on runs in the second and third to jump out to a 4-2 lead.

Things really broke open in the fifth. Perkins stepped up and ripped a bases-loaded single to bring three across. Alivia Bell followed with an RBI knock, and Kyla Hogan added a sac fly to cap off a five-run frame. Just one inning later, Caitlynn Pleska sent one deep to center for a solo shot, and Bell stayed hot with another RBI single.

In the seventh, Perkins put the exclamation point on her night with a no-doubter to center—good for three more runs. The Clippers piled up five more in the inning to bury any hopes of a comeback.

United scratched across some late runs with a three-run homer in the bottom half, but it wasn’t nearly enough to slow down Columbiana’s firepower.

Addison Brode went the distance in the circle, striking out seven and working around eight hits to earn the win. She also helped her own cause at the plate, going 4-for-4 with a pair of RBIs. Bell, Pleska, and Anna Yonker each chipped in multi-hit games as the Clippers racked up 16 total hits and played a clean game defensively. Next up, Columbiana heads back home Monday for a matchup with Southern.
