UNITED FINDS A WAY IN TEN INNINGS

NILES, OHIO- The LaBrae Vikings lost the lead late in a 4-1 defeat to the United  Eagles on Monday in the district semifinals.

The game was tied at one with the Eagles batting in the top of the tenth when an error scored one run. The Vikings got things moving in the third inning, when Landon Brunstetter singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.


The Eagles then evened things up at one in the top of the seventh inning when Gage Smith grounded out, scoring one run. Trent Newburn went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Eagles in hits and was also the winning pitcher for as he surrendered one run on six hits over ten innings, striking out 12 and walking one.

Lucas Glaser led the Vikings at the plate with two hits in three at bats as Owen Boone took the loss. The pitcher lasted three innings, allowing three hits and three runs while striking out two.

United will now take on South Range for the Division III District Championship.
