Ursuline coasted to an easy victory over Rootstown  8-2 on Wednesday to lock up the 2022 Struthers District Championship.

Ursuline got things started in the first inning when an error scored one run. This would set the tone for the rest of the game.

Ursuline put up four runs in the fourth inning. The offensive firepower was led by Dylan Casey and Andrew Kirila, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Brady Shannon earned the victory on the hill for Ursuline. The righthander allowed one hit and two runs over three and a third innings, striking out six. Tom Groner threw three and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Austin Biggin took the loss for Rootstown. Biggin allowed two hits and one run over three innings, striking out five.

Blake Bower started the game for Rootstown. Bower allowed three hits and three runs over two innings, striking out one

Ursuline had eight hits in the game. Kirila and Casey each had multiple hits. Casey and Kirila each managed two hits to lead the way.

Ursuline advances to the regional semifinals on Thursday, June 2nd in Massillon. The Irish are matched up with Waynedale. First pitch will be at 5:00.
