URSULINE WALK OFF SEALS THE DEAL
STRUTHERS OH— Ursuline found a way to win Thursday night, pulling off a wild 9-8 walk-off over Struthers at Bob Cene Park.
Tied at eight in the bottom of the seventh, Ursuline loaded the bases and ended it the hard way—a hit-by-pitch that forced in the game-winner and sent the Irish home happy.
AJ Snyder led the hit parade, going 3-for-4 with two singles and a double. Ursuline grabbed an early lead in the second when they cashed in a groundout and an RBI single.
But Struthers wasn’t going away. The Wildcats flipped the game on its head in the sixth, exploding for six runs on five hits to storm ahead 8-6. A two-run double deep in the count was the biggest blow of the inning.
Ursuline stayed cool, though. They answered back in the bottom of the sixth with a sac fly and a clutch RBI single to tie things up heading into the seventh.
Jake Bednar picked up the win out of the bullpen, tossing 1.1 innings and giving up just one run on three hits. Ursuline’s starter kept things tight through four scoreless innings before handing it over.
The Irish racked up 11 hits on the night, with Marc DelliQuadri and Snyder each driving in a pair. Joe Balog, Anthony Triveri, and Luke Kollar all collected multiple hits as well. Ursuline showed patience too, drawing eight walks and swiping eight bags, keeping the pressure on all night.
Struthers finished with nine hits, including a couple of multi-hit performances at the top of the order. They stayed aggressive on the bases too, swiping a few bags of their own. Ursuline hits the road Saturday to take on Marlington.
