YOUNGSTOWN, OH-  Valley native, Brooke Meenachan returns to Youngstown after earning her master’s degree at Syracuse’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. A native to the Valley, Brooke graduated from Boardman High School where she played basketball, softball, and volleyball. She helped lead the Spartans to three regional championship appearances. She continued her softball career at Youngstown State University before hanging up her cleats to focus on her future career. Brooke comes from a family full of sports enthusiasts. She played every sport imaginable growing up and knew at a young age she wanted to take that passion and turn it into a profession.

While at Syracuse, Brooke served as a sideline reporter, analyst, producer and host for Syracuse athletics’ ACC Network Extra broadcasts. Her time at Syracuse landed her an internship with Raycom Sports and the ACC Network in Charlotte.

Brooke held several jobs in the field before moving to Central New York. She worked in the Valley as a producer at 21-WFMJ and sports reporter at the Vindicator.

She currently works as a freelancer for Fox Sports Ohio and SportsTime Ohio as well as Pitt Athletics.

“We’re incredibly excited to have Brooke as part of our YSN Leadership Team.  Her resume speaks for itself, and she is dedicated to increasing coverage locally here in the Valley,” said YSN Founder DJ Yokley.  “She serves as a trailblazer in sports and broadcasting, and we are proud to have a talent such as hers,” added YSN GM Steve Leslie.

Brooke will serve as YSN’s Communications Director, which will allow her to broadcast events, host programming, as well as be a point-guard for all communications within the company.

When she’s not talking about sports, she also loves to watch them! Brooke is a huge Cleveland Indians, Browns and Cavs fan. She’s also an avid Notre Dame and UNC fan. Brooke also enjoys working out, spending time with friends, family and her fiancé and exploring new places!
