VIKINGS LOCK IN THEIR SPOT IN DISTRICTS
LaBrae clinched a solid 7-3 victory over Lakeview in Wednesday’s sectional finals. The Vikings charged ahead early, with Landon Brunstetter smashing a two-run double in the first inning. The inning heated up with Lucas Glaser grounding into a fielder’s choice to snag another run, topped off by a sneaky run on a passed ball.
The Vikings padded their lead with another run in the second, setting the pace for the game. Dylan Simpson snagged the win on the mound, tossing a solid seven innings, yielding just three runs and striking out eight. On the flip side, Lakeview’s Andrew Brown shouldered the loss after stepping in for Nathan Paolucci, who struggled in the opening inning.
Simpson, Brunstetter, Owen Boone, Glaser, and Austin Rowe each hit safely for LaBrae, with Glaser driving in three runs to lead the charge. The Vikings’ defense was sharp, turning two double plays to stifle any Bulldogs’ rallies.
For Lakeview, Brown was a bright spot, bagging two hits, while Brandon Toot added an RBI. Despite their efforts, the Bulldogs couldn’t catch up, managing just one double play on the defensive end. The Vikings now look ahead, riding this win deeper into the postseason.
