VIKINGS STAND TOE TO TOE WITH SOUTHEAST
RAVENNA OH— Morgan Muncy brought the thunder, blasting two homers and driving in a pair, but Southeast couldn’t hang on in a wild one Monday, falling 9-8 to LaBrae.
LaBrae jumped on the board early with a first-inning RBI knock from Vada Allen, but the Pirates bounced back with a four-run third, sparked by a Lilly Hayes single, a passed ball, a Viking miscue, and an RBI groundout from Aubrey Petrilla.
Things got dicey in the fifth. LaBrae flipped the momentum, cashing in five runs on just three hits. The big blow? Morgan Thompson’s two-run single with two strikes that gave the Vikings a 6-4 lead.
Southeast didn’t flinch. Ava Stephens launched a solo shot to tie things up, and Muncy followed with her first bomb of the night to keep the game close. But the Vikings came right back in the sixth, pushing across three more on hits from Thompson and Makenzie Lichty to make it 9-6.
Muncy wasn’t done—she launched her second homer in the bottom of the seventh, this one to dead center—but the rally ran out of steam.
Riley Rowe went the distance for LaBrae, scattering eight hits and fanning eight despite giving up eight runs. Liv Bragg got the start for Southeast, striking out six over five innings but took the loss after that big fifth inning.
LaBrae racked up 10 hits on the night. Shelby Bragg was a problem at the top of the order, going 4-for-5, while Thompson drove in three and Lichty chipped in a pair of hits.
