WALK OFF GIVES COLUMBIANA A PLACE ON THE TOP

Columbiana took Monday’s game in dramatic fashion, with a 3-2 walk-off victory over United. The game was tied at two with Columbiana batting in the bottom of the eighth when Riley McElwain singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run. The win earned Columbiana at least a share of the EOAC crown.

The pitching was strong on both sides. The Clippers struck out 14, while Parker  Berdine sat down three for the Eagles .

United got things started in the first inning when Landon Rhodes singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, Columbiana tied things up at two when Zachary Pleska hit a solo homer.

Pleska was the winning pitcher for the Clippers. The righthander went four innings, allowing zero runs on one hit, striking out ten and walking zero.

Berdine took the loss for United. The bulldog went seven and a third innings, allowing three runs on six hits and striking out three.

Logan Hoschar started the game for Columbiana. The pitcher went four innings, allowing two runs on three hits and striking out four

The Clippers tallied one home run on the day. Pleska went deep in the fifth inning.

Pleska led Columbiana with two hits in three at bats.
