WARRIORS COMING IN HOT
By Eric Hughes
BESSEMER PA- Mohawk — fresh off a WPIAL championship win last season — defeats Riverside, 12-3, in their season opener.
After Reagan Magno retired Riverside’s first six batters, Mylie Pistorious jumpstart the Warriors offense with an RBI double, followed by a sac fly RBI from Kaitlyn Hare to give the Warriors a 3-0 lead through two innings.
Riverside cut the deficit to 3-2 thanks to an RBI triple from Danny Rosenberger in the top of the third, but their hopes of upsetting the defending champs were short-lived.
The Warriors poured it on in the fourth inning, thanks in part to RBIs from Alivia Hare, Lydia Cole, Reagan Magno, and Makenna Stewart, to give Mohawk a 9-2 lead.
Riverside scored a run off an error in the top of the fifth, but Mohawk responded with three more runs in the bottom of the sixth, two of which came off an RBI double from Ally Granato, to give the Warriors a 12-3 lead.
Reagan Magno picked up the win on the mound, pitching a complete game where she threw seven strikeouts and only gave up three runs on five hits.
Mohawk’s entire lineup contributed to their dominate offensive performance, but Reagan Magno and Ally Granato led the way with two RBIs a piece.
Mohawk will host Mars Friday and look to build off their strong start to the 2025 campaign.
