WARRIORS FALL TO SPIRE ACADEMY AFTER EXTENDED SNOW LAYOFF
Story by: Larry Jennings
Edgewood, OH — After a week-long hiatus due to a level 3 snow emergency, the Edgewood Warriors returned to action Saturday night, hosting the formidable Spire Academy High School team. Despite their high-energy, scrappy style of play, the Warriors couldn’t overcome Spire’s height advantage, falling 64-46 in an intense matchup at Edgewood Gymnasium.
Spire Academy showcased its talent with Devin Hall leading the charge, scoring 10 points to pace a balanced attack. The Warriors, however, had standout performances from Logan Mezak and Mason Thorr, who each tallied 14 points. Mezak lit up the court with four three-pointers, while Thorr muscled his way in the paint and capitalized on six free throws. Riley Baldwin chipped in with 7 points to aid the Warriors’ effort.
The game marked a return to rhythm for Edgewood after weather-related disruptions kept the team off the court for a full week. Despite their determined play and bursts of energy, the Warriors found themselves struggling against Spire’s superior size and rebounding presence.
Looking ahead, the Warriors will aim to regroup and sharpen their game before facing cross-town rivals, the Lakeside Dragons, on Wednesday, December 11. With rivalry bragging rights on the line, Edgewood fans can expect another spirited performance from their team.
As the Warriors seek their first win of the season, the community will no doubt rally behind them, hoping their grit and determination lead to a better outcome in the games to come.
