WARRIORS FINISH OFF FIELD

Beloit OH- The number one seeded West Branch football team opened up playoff action at home against the 16th seeded Mogadore Field Falcons. Warrior Head coach Tim Cooper was looking for his first career playoff win and the Warriors did not disappoint. West Branch walked away with a 52-20 win.

West Branch started off red hot when gunslinger Dru Deshields hit Joey Jackson for a 77yd touchdown. The two point conversion was good making the score 8-0. However, Field marched right down the field and scored making the score 8-7. The Warriors drove right down the field but unfortunately it came at a cost! Star quarterback Dru Deshields went down with an injury and did not return.

Junior backup quarterback Bo Alazaus stepped right in and did an outstanding job for West Branch. Alazus accounted for 5 total touchdowns, three rushing and two passing. One of his best passes came on a 14yd touchdown pass to Garin Harlin. The Warrior offense really fed off of the energy that Beau was able to bring to the table.

Coach Cooper called Beau Alazus the “Rifleman” because he throws a tight spiral with a lot of zip and he can fit the ball into tight windows. Coach was also pleased with the play of his offensive line giving his quarterback time to throw the football.

With the uncertainty of quarterback Dru Deshields, coach Cooper feels confident in his team to go out next week against a tough Struthers squad and pull out a win. He said “Struthers is very physical, athletic, well coached and we know it’s going to be a challenge.”

West Branch Improves to 10-1, while Field ends the season at 4-7. The Warriors will host 8th seeded Struthers next Friday at 7 P.M.
