WARRIORS KNOCK NEWTON FALLS OUT OF CONTENTION

Newton Falls stayed in it until the end, but Brookfield pulled away late in a 5-2 victory on Monday. The game was tied at two with Brookfield batting in the top of the seventh when an error scored two runs.

Newton Falls lost despite out-hitting Brookfield seven to six.

In the first inning, the Tigers got their offense started. Emiy Knight hit a solo homer.

Miranda Nicholson was the winning pitcher for Brookfield. Nicholson went seven innings, allowing two runs on seven hits and striking out six.

Sophie Tvaroch took the loss for Newton Falls. The righthander allowed six hits and five runs over seven innings, striking out 12 and walking one.

Zoe McElrath led Newton Falls with two hits in four at bats.

Brookfield racked up six hits. Cadence Huffman, Sophia Hook, and Abby DeJoy each managed multiple hits.
