WATERLOO KEEPS ON WINNING

ATWATER OH- On a frigid Thursday night in Atwater, Ohio. Two teams brought the heat in the gymnasium of Waterloo High School.

The MVAC Scarlet leading #9 Waterloo Lady Vikings (9-1) went to battle, for the second time this year, with The Western Reserve Lady Blue Devils (6-7).

Both teams also brought The Big Dogs in this matchup, with both Kaira English (Waterloo) and Brooke Schantz (Reserve).

Both ladies brought the intensity Thursday night, as they both ended the evening as their respective teams leading scorers.

On top of that, on a hard-nosed defensive night, both English and Schantz had 13 Points on the night to lead their teams.

Waterloo got out of the gates and jumped The Blue Devils for a 10-2 run, one of three different times Waterloo held a lead of 8 points or more.

But as most Coach Miller led teams are, that resilient bunch of Lady Blue Devils had not an ounce of quit in them.

On three separate occasions in the first, third and fourth quarters did Western Reserve narrow the gap to just a single possession.

However, game face was on for English and The Vikings, as a late run helped seal the victory for Waterloo 39-34. Keeping them undefeated in conference play.

Western Reserve will look to refocus towards another conference matchup Saturday, January 22nd in a trip to McDonald.

Waterloo will enjoy the victory, but will have little time to waste. As a trip to Akron is on the horizon with a matchup vs. Firestone also on Saturday, January 22nd.
