WELLSVILLE CAPTURES DISTRICT CROWN

LISBON, OH- The Wellsville Volleyball Team will tell you it wasn’t as pretty as they wanted it to be, but the Lady Tigers got the job done all the same on their way to the Division IV District Championship Saturday afternoon by the score of 25-23, 25-18, 25-19.

The Tigers swept Jackson Milton in three sets, but the Lady Jays put up an unbelievable fight in what Wellsville Coach, Jon Stokes said was the best match he’d seen them play all season, “Thank goodness it was 3 sets because they were in here to fight.”

For the Lady Tigers- Presley Stokes had 22 kills and 7 blocks.  Alana Amato shined from many positions with 16 kills and a block.  Emily McNicol had 27 assists, 5 kills, and a block while Paige Green had 12 assists, an ace, and a kill.  Sam Drysdale had 6 blocks to contribute alongside Aubri Ramsey’s 17 digs and Stakya Sallis’ 2 blocks and 3 kills.

Jackson Milton held their own extremely well as Kailee Davis 9 spot led the way with kills, while Kylie Wilson had 7 kills, a block, and a dig.  Paige Grope led the way in assists with 15, while Chelsea Williams had a dozen helpers for the Lady Jays, along with an ace.  Mia Greco would help out as well with four kills.

Wellsville (26-0) will now look to battle another MVAC opponent in the number 2 seeded Western Reserve.  This will be a rematch of the October 14th match where Wellsville prevailed 3-2 on the road.

Jackson Milton finishes the year at 17-8 and District Runners Up.
