WELLSVILLE, OH- Even though Wellsville gave up four runs in the fifth inning, they still defeated East Liverpool Potter Varsity 8-4 on Wednesday. Kamren Klakos, Paxton Grimes, Logan Bennett, and Dylan Czech each drove in runs during the inning.
The Tigers got things moving in the first inning, when Justin Thirtyacre singled on a full count, scoring two runs. Wellsville then put up five runs in the second inning. Connor Ramsey, Seth Kerner, Jonathan Walker, and Brandon Tate each had RBIs in the frame.
Bennett was on the hill for East Liverpool Potter Varsity. He went one and two-thirds innings, allowing seven runs on four hits, striking out three and walking one. Klakos threw four and a third innings out of the bullpen.
Cory Weyand went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead East Liverpool Potter Varsity in hits.
