WEST BRANCH BATTLES THROUGH THE KNIGHTS

By Michael Wolfgang

MACEDONIA, OHIO – The West Branch offense was all gas and no break in their explosive 12-2 win Saturday against Nordonia.

The Warriors offense scored four runs in each of the first three innings and it was jump started in the first inning when Sara Schmidt came to the plate and sent a ball over the fence for a three run homerun.

The big third inning was driven by Josie Milliken, Addi Craven, Schmidt, and Nicole Stoffer who came out of the frame with RBIs of their own. The box score was stuffed with hits for West Branch with seemingly every batter connecting for a hit.

Baylee Waugaman, Schmidt, Milliken, Stoffer, and Libbie Davis each had multi- hit games and Waugaman had a good approach at the plate, 3-for-4 and leading the Warrior lineup in hits. Warrior ace Klary McKay took to the pitcher’s circle and brought her swing and miss stuff with her as she struck out nine Nordonia batters.

McKay’s outing went five very strong innings, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks. 12 runs on 15 hits and one error was a final line that was more than enough for West Branch to get by Nordonia.
