WEST BRANCH EARNS PROGRAM WIN NUMBER 500

BELOIT, OHIO – A good, solid, hard fought softball game was what we got Thursday night between Minerva and West Branch, a win that marked Sis Woods and the programs 500th win with the first win coming back on April 9th, 1987 against Columbiana.

After being tied 3-3 going into the bottom of the fourth inning, West Branch got it going with four runs in the frame. In the fourth, Addi Craven sent a two-run homerun over the fence on a 1-0 count. Klary McKay followed that up with a single on the first pitch of the at bat that scored one run.

West Branch added up a total of 20 hits as a team in the game with Sara Schmidt, Josie Milliken, Nicole Stoffer, Libbie Davis, Mati Hawk, Craven, and McKay each  going for multi- hit efforts. McKay went the distance on the rubber for West Branch, allowing seven runs on 13 hits and striking out nine.

Canton South will be the next opponent for West Branch on Friday at 5:00 p.m. on the road.
