WEST BRANCH OPENS SERIES WITH QUAKERS WITH A BLAST
BELOIT OH- West Branch took care of business on Tuesday, rolling past Salem 10-2 behind a big day from Anthony Perry on both sides of the ball.
Perry was a force—3-for-4 at the plate and the winning arm on the mound. He scattered three hits over five innings, didn’t allow an earned run, and struck out six in a rock-solid outing.
The Warriors got going early, putting up a three-spot in the first. Dominic Fotheringham kicked things off with a run-scoring double, and Maddox Coleman followed it up with a two-run single to set the tone.
West Branch kept the pressure on, racking up 10 total hits and running wild on the bases with 10 steals—Perry and Walker Poorbaugh each swiped a pair. They turned defense into offense all game long and even turned a double play to kill Salem’s momentum at one point.
Carter Thrasher came in out of the bullpen and shut things down late, tossing two scoreless innings and striking out two.
Derek Oesch was a bright spot for Salem, going 2-for-3 at the plate, but the Quakers couldn’t get much else going. These two square off again Wednesday, this time at Salem, with the Warriors looking to complete the sweep.
