WEST BRANCH SPOILS RIVAL HOMECOMING

Salem OH- The West Branch boys basketball team was on a four game losing streak and were looking to gain some success tonight. The task was not easy as they traveled to Salem for a big rivalry game. Salem was also looking to snap their three game losing streak as well. The game was tight throughout the contest, but the Warriors were able to come away with the 49-47 victory.

 

Salem was led by Caden Swiger who had 22 points for the Quakers. He was hot from beyond the arch knocking down four three pointers. Swiger was held in check most of the first half, but he exploded in the second half knocking down some big time shots. Lance Bailey contributed 11 points for Salem. Finally, Ross Davidson chipped in with 9 points, while Sampson added 5.

                                                                   

West Branch was led by Jaxon Robb who had 11 points, while freshman Jeremiah Thomas added 10. Coach Brown was very pleased with his team’s foul shooting performance. Freshman Galvin Gregory and Jeremiah Thomas were big down the stretch as they both were great at the line. Gregory was 5/6 and Thomas was 3/4.

 

With the win, the Warriors improve to 8-9 on the season and (5-5) inside the EBC. West Branch will be back in action on Tuesday at Home against Akron Garfield at 7 pm. With their forth loss in as many games, Salem drops to 7-12 and (3-7) inside the EBC. The Quakers will host Heartland Christian on Tuesday at 6:45 pm.
