WEST BRANCH SWEEPS SALEM TO HONOR SENIORS

BELOIT OH-  It was a special day at West Branch—Senior Day—and the Lady Warriors made sure it ended with a W, knocking off rival Salem 11-7 behind a big offensive effort and a little extra motivation from honoring their eight standout seniors.

Libbie Davis set the tone early and often, racking up three hits and wreaking havoc on the basepaths. She singled in the first, ripped another in the second, and added a double in the third to cap off a monster day.

Salem came out swinging, putting up a quick three-spot in the first thanks to a sac bunt and a rope from Morgane Blaine. They kept the pressure on in the second when Aniya Jones delivered a two-RBI knock to make it 5-3.

But that lead didn’t last long. West Branch flipped the script in the bottom of the third with a six-run outburst. Zoe Metzger came through with a two-run single in the rally, and the Warriors never looked back.

Klary McKay handled things in the circle, going five and a third while striking out seven and giving up just three earned runs. Ellie Tucker came in late to help close the door.

The bats stayed hot all night—11 hits in total. Metzger and Tucker both had multi-hit days, while Mati Hawk drew a couple of key walks and helped spark the offense. The Warriors were aggressive on the bases too, swiping five bags—two each from Davis and Hawk.

Salem didn’t go quietly. Aubrey Kutsko had a 3-for-4 night, and Channing Toy added two more hits. The Quakers made noise on the bases too, swiping six bags of their own. Jones led them with two RBIs, but the Warriors’ big third inning proved too much to overcome.

It was a day to remember for the eight West Branch seniors who’ve poured years into the program—and they celebrated it with a gritty win. Next up, the Warriors hit the road for a Friday matchup with Carrollton.
