WEST BRANCH TAKES DISTRICT CROWN

JEFFERSON OH- It was a fairly clean game played between Mogadore Field and West Branch on Thursday night. Both teams were locked in with a district championship on the line. West Branch would be the team on top though, as they mixed great pitching with timely hitting to earn a district championship with a 3-1 win.

West Branch got on the board first, in the first the only error of the game let the Warriors score a run. Kiersten Skinner scored the run, as Sydney Mercer reached on the error. It was Mercer scoring Skinner again in the 3rd inning, this time with a RBI single.

Field would get their only run of the day in the next half inning. The Falcons homered on a 1-2 pitch making it 2-1 West Branch.

West Branch would respond in the next half inning though as Jaci Thomas knocked in a RBI single to score Tori McKay. That would be it for the scoring, but it was enough for the Warriors ace pitcher Jordan Anderson.

Anderson got the win in the circle for the Warriors. Her final line was 7.0 IP 4 H 1 ER 0 BB 14 K.

Anderson also had a perfect day at the plate going 2-2 with a walk. Mercer went 1-3 with 2 RBI, and Thomas went 1-3 with 1 RBI.

West Branch advances to the Akron Regional semifinals on Wednesday. The Warriors will play Revere. That game is set for 5:00 at Akron Firestone Stadium.
