WEST BRANCH UP FOR CHALLENGE ON THE ROAD

ASHTABULA OH- West Branch nabbed the lead late in the game in a 12-5 victory over Edgewood on Thursday. The game was tied at four with West Branch batting in the top of the sixth when Mati Hawk singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

The Warriors secured the victory thanks to eight runs in the sixth inning. Hawk, Addi Craven, Nicole Stoffer, Mikalyn Fitts, Baylee Waugaman, and Libbie Davis all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Edgewood captured the lead in the first inning. They scored one run with a RBI single.

West Branch knotted the game up at four in the top of the fifth inning. An error scored one run.

Klary McKay was in the pitcher’s circle for the Warriors. She went seven innings, allowing five runs on nine hits, striking out eight and walking one.

West Branch racked up 14 hits on the day. Hawk, Sara Schmidt, Waugaman, Craven, and Stoffer all managed multiple hits. Hawk went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the way in hits.

Sophia Paolillo led Edgewood with four hits in four at bats.
