HOWLAND, OH — In an inspiring interview with YSN’s Anthony Hartwig, Howland senior Ava Yannucci shared her exhilarating journey to securing the outright All-American Conference (AAC) championship for her team this season. This accomplishment marks a significant milestone for Yannucci and her fellow seniors, who have been striving for this victory throughout their high school careers.

“This year, we knew it would be tough, but we’ve taken it one game at a time,” Yannucci explained. Reflecting on their historic win, she expressed how their dedication and perseverance, especially against their long-time rivals Canfield, paid off. Beyond the field, Yannucci balances her time with academic responsibilities, citing a particular interest in her forensics class. She described a lighter workload in her senior year, allowing her to shift focus and enjoy her final season with the team. Yannucci’s leadership extends to her team dynamics, where she values camaraderie and mutual support. “We lean on each other,” she said, highlighting the strong bond and shared goals within the team.

As her high school chapter closes, Yannucci looks forward to continuing her soccer passion at Fairmont State. The commitment process, though arduous, culminated in a sense of relief and excitement for her future in collegiate soccer.
