WILDCATS BRING OUT THEIR CLAWS

STRUTHERS, OHIO – In a matchup in which both teams came in trying to gain some traction, Struthers got the best of Cardinal Mooney Saturday afternoon as they snatched a 4-0 victory.

The Struthers offense came out looking to take control early and they did just that. Michael Scavnicky singled an 0-2 pitch that scored two runs, giving Struthers the early 2-0 lead. Olindo Pezzone had himself an all around day in the diamond. First, Pezzone had an RBI which continued to a two run inning for the Wildcats in the bottom of the third.

However, the highlight for Pezzone was his complete game shutout, allowing only three hits, four strikeouts, and of course the zero runs allowed to come out as the winning pitcher. Anthony Pastella led the offense for Struthers, going 2-for-3 in the box and two hits.

Struthers will get back to work Tuesday night in Jefferson to take on one of their NE8 Conference foes and try to make it three wins in a row. First pitch is all set for 5:00 p.m.
