WINNER TAKES THE SPOILS

POLAND OH-  Kiera Winner lived up to her name on Thursday, racking up four RBIs and setting the tone early as South Range rolled past Poland 8-3.

Winner wasted no time getting things started—she roped a bases-clearing double in the first to get the Raiders rolling. She added another RBI knock in the fourth, finishing with a pair of hits and a handful of damage.

South Range kept the heat on in the second with some help from Poland’s defense. An error, a walk by Jayli Wilt, and a base hit from Anna Aey brought three more runs across and stretched the lead to 6-0 before Poland could settle in.

In the circle, Solena DeJesus got the start and kept things under control through three, allowing just one earned on four hits. Ashley Rupert came on in relief and locked it down over the final four innings, giving up just one unearned run and scattering four hits with three strikeouts.

Winner and Gabby Spooner led the hit column with two apiece, and the Raiders showed patience at the plate with five walks. Even more impressive—South Range flashed the leather, turning three double plays to shut down any Poland rally attempts.

Poland’s offense got a spark from Madison Medvec, who went 2-for-3 from the nine-hole. McDonald, Leanna Boccieri, and Avery Jakubovich each knocked in a run, but the early deficit was too much to claw back from.
