LOUISVILLE OH- West Branch demolished the Geneva 9-1 on Wednesday, clinching the District Championship in a game that wasn’t even close.

The Eagles nabbed the first run in the opening frame when Shea Arkenburg took a walk with the bases juiced. But the Warriors came roaring back in their half of the first. Anthony Perry smacked a two-run single, and Jeremiah Thomas grounded out to send another runner home, flipping the scoreboard to 3-1.

The Warriors kept the pedal to the metal in the second inning. Aaron Tucker and Hunter Shields made productive outs, with Tucker grounding out and Shields launching a sac fly to push the lead to 5-1.

Perry was the star on the mound for the Warriors, tossing a gem. Over seven innings, he scattered six hits and an unearned run, striking out six while only handing out a couple of free passes. Geneva’s starter, Hewitt Wilt, couldn’t find his rhythm, coughing up five runs in just two innings of work.

At the dish, Perry was just as electric, driving in three runs and going 2-for-3. Boston Mulinix matched Perry’s two-hit effort, helping the Warriors keep the pressure on all game. Charlie Biskup showed some serious discipline, drawing a pair of walks.

Curtis Maier tried to spark the Eagles, going 2-for-3, but the Warriors’ defense was too slick, turning a crucial double play to shut down any potential rally.

Next up, the Warriors will battle it out with Ursuline in the Regional Semifinals on May 30th at Thurman Munson Stadium. First pitch is set for 2:00 PM.
