CANFIELD GRAPPLES WITH STATE POWER

Canfield faced off against state powerhouse Triway in a doubleheader on the road on Saturday, resulting in a split series.

In the first game, Canfield fell short, losing 2-0. Despite the loss, Malena Toth led the offense, going 2-for-3, while Marina Koenig and Caylee Ortiz each contributed a hit.

In the circle, Toth pitched a strong game, going 6 innings, allowing 6 hits, 1 earned run, and striking out an impressive 12 batters.

In the second game, Canfield bounced back with a thrilling 13-12 victory. Leah Figueroa led the offensive charge with a remarkable 3-for-4 performance, including a home run, 4 RBIs, and 1 run scored. Alexis Johnson went 4-for-5 with 2 RBIs and 3 runs scored, while Koenig added 3 hits, 2 RBIs, and 3 runs scored. Jenna Triveri contributed with 2 hits, 2 RBIs, and 2 runs scored, and Sami Economous reached base three times with 3 hits, a walk, and 2 runs scored. Sydney Lutz and Toth also added hits to the scoreboard.
