MOHAWK KEEPS THE JOURNEY GOING

In a nail-biter at Mohawk, the Warriors edged out Freeport 2-1, thanks to a wild pitch that broke the tie in the sixth inning. The game was locked at one apiece when chaos on the field led to the go-ahead run for Mohawk.

In the circle, Reagan Magno was a force for Mohawk, fanning 12 batters and giving up just one run across seven innings of work. Magno’s command was on point, walking only two while scattering four hits throughout her complete game.

Mohawk first lit up the scoreboard in the third inning when Alivia Hare grounded out but still managed to drive in a crucial run. Not to be outdone, Freeport’s Addyson Caruso responded with a blast to center field in the fourth, rounding the bases for a solo homer that knotted the score.

Sydney Selker shouldered the tough loss for Freeport, delivering six innings of solid work, striking out five, and walking three while allowing six hits.

Aricka Young shined brightest at the plate for Mohawk, going 2-for-3 and showcasing sharp play all game. The Warriors played a clean game defensively, with Mylie Pistorius leading the team with 11 fielding chances without a hitch.

Caruso was the standout for Freeport, not just with her game-tying homer but also leading her team’s offense by batting in their lone run. Megan Grolemund, Abby DeJidas, Caruso, and Lauren Clark each managed a hit in a tightly contested game.
