WARRIORS SHINE AT WESTMINSTER

NEW WILMINGTON PA- Mohawk defeats Beaver, 65-56, at Westminster College to improve to 8-6 on the season.

The first quarter was a shootout, where both teams combined for six three-pointers out of the gate. Nick Krzeczowski made two of them and led the Bobcats with eight points in the first quarter, but the Warriors would go into the second quarter with a 17-15 lead.

Mohawk made four more three-pointers and the second quarter and adjusted defensively to hold Beaver scoreless from beyond the arc for the remainder of the first half, but the Warriors would go into the locker room with only a 33-30 lead at halftime.

The Warriors continued to stay on par offensively coming out of halftime and held the Bobcats to only eight points in the third quarter to give themselves a 49-38 lead going into the final stanza.

The Bobcats found a spark in the fourth quarter and forced a lot of turnovers that led to points to bring the game to within five points, but four points apiece from Jay Wrona and JJ Nail, and a three-pointer from Mason Hopper down the stretch gave the Warriors the cushion they needed to walk out of New Wilmington with the win.

Bobby Fadden and Keigan Hopper both led the charge for the Warriors with 17 points apiece, and Jay Wrona had 16 points, splashing three three-pointers.

Junior Morino and Nick Krzeczowski both had great performances with 19 points apiece despite the loss.

Beaver will travel to Cranberry Township to face off against North Catholic on Tuesday, while Mohawk will have their toughest test of the season when they take on the 12-1 Neshannock Lancers in a hostile environment with first place in the WPIAL 3A 1 Conference on the line.

MOHAWK MUSTERS UP A MIDWEEK WIN

NEW CASTLE OH- In a hard-fought contest on Wednesday night, Mohawk secured a well-earned victory against a resilient Beaver Area Bobcats team, emerging with a 46-31 win.

Leading the way for Mohawk was Erynne Capalbo, who delivered an impressive performance with 19 points. Kiera Julian and Anicka Young each contributed 9 points, showcasing a balanced offensive effort.

For the Beaver Area, Annsley Baker led the scoring with 13 points, and Lauren Nesbella added 7 points in their determined effort.

BEAVER FALTERS AGAINST SOUTH FAYETTE

BEAVER PA- The Beaver Bobcats took on South Fayette last night in boy’s basketball and even though they were able to go on a couple runs it saw them ultimately fall 66-56. 

 

The Bobcats started out down 7 early but with South Fayette getting into some 1st quarter  foul trouble they were able to end the 1st up 16-14. However South Fayette got some great production from their bench with Gavin Orosz and Tyson Wright. The Lions were able to expand the lead out to 14 in the 3rd quarter. However the Bobcats had one last run in them and was able to cut the deficit down to 3 but the Lions were able to get Beaver into foul trouble and took advantage at the line to secure a late victory.

 

For the Bobcats the lead scorer was Brady Mayo who had 23 points. Ty Butler and Nick Krzeczowki each contributed 10 points as well.

 

The Bobcats next stop is Saturday, December 16th as they head to Rocket Mortgage Field House to take on West Carrollton. Beaver is now 2-3 on the season and is looking to bounce back. West Carrollton is 2-0 on the season and coming off a 43-34 win over Piqua.
