BERLIN CENTER, OH- As the days grow shorter and the crispness of fall sets in, the excitement for high school football intensifies in Berlin Center. At the heart of this anticipation is senior Dominic Ricciardi, the captain of the Western Reserve Blue Devils, who recently appeared on Chris Colucci’s “Devil’s Hour” podcast to share insights into his final high school season and future aspirations.

Dominic, a four-year player for the Blue Devils, enthusiastically recounted a successful summer of training, highlighted by the addition of two new junior captains. With robust preparation, Dominic expressed optimism about the upcoming season.

In a reflective conversation, Dominic discussed the unique challenge of playing Crestview on a Thursday night, a departure from the traditional Friday night games. Despite the unusual schedule, Dominic confidently recalled, “It felt like every other game.” He also vividly described his stellar play during the game, a testament to the team’s rigorous study of their opponents’ strategies.

As the Blue Devils gear up for their next match against Trinity, Dominic confidently noted the team’s thorough preparation. “Their athletes match up with ours, but I believe our skills are a notch better,” he stated, ready for the long week ahead.

From spending his summer golfing with friends to contemplating a future in architecture, Dominic maintains a balance between his sporting and academic pursuits. “I definitely want to get my education,” he asserted, considering a potential path in college football but prioritizing his academic goals.

Family plays a crucial role in Dominic’s life, with two younger brothers and supportive parents. Reflecting on their impact, Dominic shared, “My dad has been my coach and rock since my flag football days, and my mom is like superwoman to me.”

As Dominic strides into his final high school year, he remains spontaneous but deeply engaged in school events, looking forward to prom, homecoming, and senior trips. Despite his modesty, his teammates can assure he has some moves on the dance floor.

He emphasized the positive impact of head coach Armini and the remarkable coaching staff assembled, attributing their success to a strong sense of teamwork.

The football program’s notable 9-2 record this season was a highlight for Ricciardi, who acknowledged the exceptional team effort that helped them achieve such a remarkable standing.
