TRUST IN Q
East Liverpool, OH — Quintin Conrad, a senior at East Liverpool High School, is embracing his final year as a Potter with a mature and dedicated approach. Known affectionately by his peers and coaches as “Q,” Conrad is determined to lead his basketball team with the same drive and focus that has characterized his high school career.
Fresh off an impressive football season where East Liverpool advanced two rounds deep into the playoffs, Conrad is translating that success and momentum onto the basketball court. “Coach has been instrumental in pushing us to be our best,” Conrad said. His football background has helped him bring a heightened sense of urgency and teamwork to his basketball endeavors.
Conrad’s preparation for basketball season began even before football ended. “Around week eight of football, I texted my old coach to start basketball practices in the mornings,” he shared. This seamless transition showcases his relentless work ethic and commitment to excellence. The senior is not just a force on the court but also in the classroom. Balancing athletics with challenging academic courses, such as AP Literature and Physical Science, Conrad has managed to excel despite the pressure. “My mom set a high standard for me, and though it’s tough, I enjoy the challenge,” he stated, emphasizing the importance of time management in juggling his responsibilities.
As one of a large group of seniors on the basketball team, Conrad thrives on the daily competition and camaraderie this brings. Each player’s spot is earned daily, making for an environment that propels everyone to give their best efforts. “I think we’re the best team in the area,” Conrad confidently claimed. The senior also draws immense pride from representing the East Liverpool community. “Our fan base is incredible,” he said, recounting how packed stadiums serve as a testament to the town’s unwavering support.
Looking ahead, Conrad is actively exploring opportunities to continue his athletic career at the collegiate level, particularly in track, where recruitment prospects appear promising. Regardless of where he ends up, his love for competition and consistency in striving for greatness stands out. Conrad attributes much of his success and resilience to his family. “A big thank you to my mom, my little brother, and my little brother’s dad. They push me to be the best every day,” he concluded. As Quintin Conrad embarks on his final year in high school, his dedication to his team, his schoolwork, and his community shines brightly. The Potters are in capable hands this season with a leader like Conrad steering the ship.
