POLAND, OH- Last Friday night’s senior celebration at Poland High School was a night to remember for senior kicker, receiver, and punter Jas Stefancin. Emotions ran high as Stefancin walked the field with his supportive parents, marking the culmination of his high school football journey.

In an interview on YSN’s Pullen Bulldog Show, Stefancin shared his heartfelt experience. “Every emotion there is,” he said, describing the night. “Walking out as a senior with my mom and dad, who have helped me through everything, was really emotional.”

Though his mother teared up, his father maintained composure, understanding the critical game ahead. Known for their close pre-game rituals, Stefancin’s father has been integral in his son’s football career, right down to holding kicks during warm-ups. “It’s just amazing to have him there,” Stefancin noted, emphasizing the valuable advice his father provides due to his own experience as a kicker and punter.

Demonstrating their resilience, Poland’s defense, led by a significant sack from Oliver McCully, thwarted Girard’s scoring chance.

“Stuff’s going to happen,” Stefancin acknowledged. “We have to pick our teammate back up and get out there. It was a big team effort to stop them from scoring.”

Senior leadership was crucial as tensions mounted during the game. Stefancin, along with his fellow seniors, played a pivotal role in maintaining team composure. “We tried to do our best to keep everyone on a good level,” he explained, highlighting the importance of guiding younger teammates through high-pressure situations.

Looking ahead, Stefancin and his team are preparing for their next challenge against Lakeview. “It’s the same stuff day in and day out, what we’ve preached the whole year,” he said. “Mainly just go out there, have fun, and play some football.”
