SMITH NAMED 2022 YSN GIRLS OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR

EAST PALESTINE, OH- Garfield’s Jenna Smith has been named 2022 Your Sports Network Girls Basketball Offensive Player of the Year by the media company.  Smith was honored earlier this week as well with First Team All-State honors and now stands tall amongst a detailed list of some of the best players in the state.

Smith’s senior campaign consisted of leading her team in-game appearances (26), points per game (20.2), rebounds (12.2) while chipping in a steal per game as well on defense.  Jenna helped propel the Lady G-Men to a 19-7 record overall, and 11-3 in the MVAC.

Congratulations to Jenna Smith for her selection as 2022 YSN Offensive Player of the Year, and for all the success throughout her career.  We wish her the best in all future endeavors that await her.

STILL JENNA FROM THE BLOCK

GARRETTSVILLE OH- Take a trip to Garrettsville to watch Garfield’s girls basketball team and you’ll be in for a treat. The Lady G-Men have plenty of ways they can beat you. However most of the time, their offense flows through Jenna Smith. She can dominate the paint, and she can make lethal moves from the high post as well.

Jenna got her 1000th career point as a Junior last season, that in itself is an accomplishment. She continued to lead her team statistically this season and now, she is a member of the 1,500 point club. It is much more exclusive up there.

Jenna shows incredible leadership on the team. She is a big reason Garfield  is able to work as such a tight unit. She had plenty of leaders in the past show her the way to lead the younger kids now. Because of the work she has put in, Garfield has a great mix of experience, and youth. Because Jenna, and her fellow seniors are such good leaders, everyone on the team carries confidence into every situation that they come across.

Jenna took the time to join YSN’s Running appoint this week to talk about her senior year. She also talks about reaching 1,500 points, her basketball journey, and much more.
