LADY RAMS CHARGE BACK IN LATE INNINGS

NEW MIDDLETOWN, OH – The Mineral Ridge Lady Rams took on the Springfield Lady Tigers in MVAC softball action tonight in the second night of a back to back. The Lady Rams went down 7-0 early as the Lady Tigers seemed to control the entire game up until the fifth inning.

Once the Lady Rams came up to bat in the top of the fifth, the flood gates seemed to open as the Rams began getting runners on base and began chipping away at the deficit. The Lady Rams made a pitching change to Haleigh Taylor in the bottom of the fifth and she proceeded to quiet the Springfield bats the rest of the night. As the game rolled on, Mineral Ridge continued to execute and ended up tying the game in the top of the seventh.

In the top of the 8th inning, the Lady Rams ended up getting runners on second and third with one out, when Courtney Boyer stepped into the box. Boyer watched the first pitch for a strike, the second pitch for a ball, the third pitch was a missed bunt attempt, then the fourth pitch was sent into the stratosphere over the left field wall for a three run homer!

When Taylor came back out for the bottom of the 8th, she had a lead and confidence, as she would sit the Lady Tigers down and give Mineral Ridge the 10-7 victory.
