In a commanding display of skill and teamwork, the South Range Raiders emerged victorious against the Struthers Wildcats in a three-set sweep, winning with a dominant scoreline of 3-0. The Raiders showcased their prowess on the volleyball court, leaving their opponents struggling to keep up.

The Raiders set the tone for the match with a convincing victory in the first set, winning 25-18. Maddie Mook, a standout performer of the night, displayed her all-around abilities, contributing 7 kills and 4 aces.

 

South Range continued to assert their dominance in the second set, winning 25-19. Maddie Mook’s serves and kills continued to trouble the Wildcats, making her a pivotal player for the Raiders.

The Raiders sealed the match with another strong performance in the third set, winning comfortably with a score of 25-17. Olivia Meli’s impressive 9 kills and 3 blocks demonstrated her prowess at the net.

Maddie Mook was the standout athlete of the night, not only contributing offensively with 7 kills but also making her presence felt with 4 aces, showcasing her all-around skills.

The opening set set the tone for the entire game, with both teams displaying impressive offense and defense. South Range managed to edge ahead, winning the first set 25-22. Olivia Meli was instrumental for the Raiders, contributing 13 kills and proving herself as a dominant force at the net.

Edgewood bounced back strongly in the second set, seizing control and winning it 25-20. Their tenacity and teamwork were evident as they leveled the match at one set apiece.

SOUTH RANGE SURVIVES BULLDOG ATTACK

CORTLAND, OH- It was a thrilling Friday night under the bright stadium lights as the South Range Raiders faced off against the Lakeview Bulldogs in a high-stakes football showdown. The atmosphere was electric, and fans from both sides filled the stands, ready to witness an epic battle on the gridiron.

The first quarter started with a bang for the Raiders, as their star player, Blake Ewert, made an immediate impact. Ewert displayed his prowess by scoring two quick touchdowns. The first came from a hard-fought 5-yard run, showcasing his determination to put points on the board. The second was a jaw-dropping 79-yard dash to the end zone, leaving defenders in his wake. South Range took an early 14-0 lead, and their fans erupted with cheers.

But the Bulldogs were not to be outdone. In the second quarter, their quarterback, Boom Gillis, connected with Andrew Brown on a 24-yard pass for a touchdown, putting Lakeview on the scoreboard. The score was now 14-7, and the game was well and truly alive.

As the third quarter began, the Raiders maintained their lead with a balanced attack. Tristan Toy executed a 1-yard quarterback sneak, and Boom Gillis orchestrated a beautifully timed 10-yard pass to Hayden Newton for another touchdown. Gaven Nagy, a standout on defense, made a game-changing play with an 85-yard pick-six, adding to South Range’s lead. The score now stood at 28-14 in favor of the Raiders.

Lakeview’s star player, Reagan Price, played a pivotal role in securing the victory with an outstanding performance. Price notched an impressive 24 kills, displayed her formidable defensive skills with 4 blocks, and served up 3 aces, leaving an indelible mark on the game.

Mallory Mailach showcased her remarkable setting abilities, recording a staggering 49 assists, ensuring her teammates had plenty of opportunities to shine on the offensive end. Meanwhile, Addy Allen was a defensive stalwart for Lakeview, digging out 23 crucial balls throughout the match.

GIRARD FENDS OFF SCRAPPY RAIDERS

GIRARD OH- In a thrilling volleyball match, Girard emerged victorious over South Range in four hard-fought sets (20-25, 25-15, 25-12, 25-14).

The Girard team showcased their offensive prowess, with Bree Latell leading the charge with an impressive 21 kills, while Nico Cochran added 9 more to the tally. Bailey Walters orchestrated the offense brilliantly, contributing 33 assists and also making her presence felt at the service line with 23 service points and 9 aces. Defensively, Walters was equally exceptional, recording 14 digs which gave her a double double. Alexis Pieton, Brooke Perry, and Walters combined for 9 blocks, displaying a formidable wall at the net.

South Range, despite their resilient efforts, couldn’t maintain their early lead. Anna Toy and Maddie Mook notched 9 and 7 kills, respectively. Sarah Kuhns and Hayden Carey distributed the ball effectively, with 15 and 12 assists, while Anna Toy and Olivia Meli each contributed 2 aces. Anna Toy also shone defensively with 14 digs, while Julia Meli added 7 more.

With this victory, Girard improved to a 4-1 record and sets their sights on an upcoming clash with Poland. South Range, now at 3-3, will be looking to bounce back when they travel to face Lakeview. Joined by the show’s host, DJ Yokley,  they delved into the intriguing dynamics of the team and Cam Carr Sr.’s role as a strong and vocal leader. Highlighted was a captivating aspect of their hype video, featuring his emphatic words that captivated listeners, especially the powerful line “listen to me, listen!” Seeing his image on the Jumbotron before hitting the field was a thrilling experience for both the players and the audience.

Discussing the impact of the video, Cam shared that such features helped unify the team, getting them pumped and focused on their collective mission. He extended gratitude to those who supported them, including the show’s host, and emphasized that each individual’s contribution played a crucial role in their journey.

Shifting to his role as a leader, Cam shared that strong leadership was pivotal for the team’s cohesion and success. He expressed the importance of having multiple leaders who could come together to guide the team, fostering unity and resilience. Carr disclosed that he saw his role as a “hype man,” someone who energizes the team through spirited speeches before games, encouraging his teammates to bring their best to the field.

POLAND OH- South Range displayed an outstanding performance on the road, sweeping Poland in a decisive victory with set scores of 25-13, 25-8, and 25-23.

The visiting team’s prowess was undeniable, as they controlled the game from start to finish. Notable individual achievements underscored South Range’s dominance, with Hayden Carey tallying an impressive 14 assists. However, it was freshman Anna Toy who stole the spotlight, recording a double-double with 15 kills, 7 aces, and 14 digs. Maddie Mook contributed 6 kills and 4 aces, while Olivia Meli added 5 kills and 2 aces to the team’s remarkable performance.

On the other side, Poland’s efforts were evident through Izzy Greco’s 6 kills and 3 blocks, as well as Bella Khoury’s impressive 14 digs and Olivia Minehart’s 11 digs and 4 kills.

Looking ahead, South Range’s momentum continues as they prepare to face Girard on Thursday. Meanwhile, Poland will be aiming for redemption on the road against Hubbard.
